Reading Fencing clubs is always active with competitions against ourseleves and other clubs in the region.
Well done to our Ladies team who came third at the senior national championships.
RFC travelled down to SFC for the first ever match between our clubs. RFC fencers were Alain Barbasiewicz, Philippe Barbasiewicz and Jeff Rosenbaum. A poule unique was fought with 5 fencers from SFC, with Reading claiming a resounding victory by winning 13 of 15 bouts contested. We had FIFTEEN (!) juniors compete in the age group qualifiers, held at Bradfield College yesterday.

RFC were victorious in their return match against SEC on 26 February. Will Ross, Dave Hillier, Verity Hillier, Philippe Barbasiewicz and Alain Barbasiewicz competed in a pool unique, winning 52 of the 75 fights they had against the opposition.
A very enjoyable night with some good quality fencing!
Our next match is due to take place on 31 March against Swindon Fencing Club.
We had a successful return match vs Reading Uni Knight with our senior team emerging victorious from their relay match, and our beginners also triumphant from their pool unique. The senior team, winning 45-21, comprised Alain Barbasiewicz, Calum Maynard, and Dave and Verity Hillier. Our novices - Liz Sandford, Mark Foulkes, Andy Smith - won 8 out of the 10 fights contested.
Well done Calum who came second at the Aldershot Open then won the Stirling Sword the following weekend.
