Reading Fencing Club meets twice a week - Monday and Wednesday evenings, 19:30-22:00 - at Reading Blue Coat School (just off the A4).

R.F.C. is one of the biggest fencing clubs in the UK. We have a number of strong fencers but the Club also has a good social atmosphere, perfect for those just wanting a bit of fun and exercise away from the gym!

Although fencing at the Club is predominantly with épée - see The Swords below for an explanation of each weapon - we do have a growing foil contingent with some of the region's best foilists, and coaching is available for all three weapons. Our Beginner Classes use foil to start with, and are later given the chance to fence with épée.

THE PEOPLE

Many of Reading's members are highly placed in the National Rankings (épée), and the club can boast some of Britain's top épéeists - read more about them in our Profiles section - Reading fencers dominate county and regional championships, and also perform well at the many Open competitions.
